Using color-coded Little Bits pieces that each have a specific function (ie. motion, lights, sound, sensors, internet connectivity), children snap the piece together with magnets to make circuits. Building circuits is simple and intuitive, allowing students to create powerful, sophisticated electronics in a matter of seconds. LittleBits encourages students to play and experiment through active experiences, enabling them to construct real-world knowledge.

Use your imagination to make your ideas come alive, using stop-motion animation! Open to students in first through fourth grades who want to create, innovate, invent and just have fun telling their own stories.

What would you like to animate? Action figures, cars, puppets, or other toys you have? If you don't yet know, that’s ok…we will be looking at other animations and getting ideas. You could just use paper and we will have some clay we can use as well as some fun props.

We’ll have fun, and after the class is over, we’ll put your animation online to see and share! Each child will receive a DVD compilation of the animations as well.

Loom Knitting 101

Tuesdays

Grades: 2-4
Instructor: Leslie Barnaby

Come join our club to learn how to knit in the round. Using a circular loom, each will learn how to cast on, knit, count stitches/rows and learn how to gather and bind off. You will be making a colorful knit beanie for the cold weather. If you finish the hat, then you can try a scarf. We will work together in class, share in the joy of creation, and feel the pride of your work. Knitting at home will be necessary to finish your project. Knitting is a lifelong skill that helps you to relax, connect with other knitters, and create beautiful pieces to wear and give as gifts. During our first class we will choose yarn colors for our project. If you have any old yarn at home bring it to use, or donate to our new club. This class will be offered again:)
